Costa Rica Fishing Reports 2012: December
December 31 First of All Let me wish all of you a Very Happy New Year. May you have good Health and Prosperity in 2013 from all of here at Quepos Fishing! So today was good reports all around for all 6 boats out with the fleet today. Jennifer Maingot along with Kris Floerke and Lisa Herrlichs family went 7 for 11 on Sailfish Released today. Ron Cassadas group using 3 boats released 5 of 8 Sailfish on the Guthrie, 2 Sailfish and 3 Dorado for dinner for Steve and his family the girls who had never been offshore had so much fun and Ron and Ron Jr. fly fishing had so much fun with lots of Skip Jack and had 8 Roosterfish conventionally.
Steve Holmes and his boys today released 3 Sailfish on the 32′ Luhrs and had a couple of shots on the fly which was a first time experience for them. The Miller Family fished inshore in a half day and had Birthday Celebration for their sons 20th birthday and released his first Roosterfish and they also had 2 Mackeral and 2 Jacks and had a nice visit to Biezance Beach to anchor and swim for a while. Again Happy New Year and we hope to Host you here in Quepos for your “Catch of a Lifetime!”
December 28 Offshore clients Julio Hernandez had a great day on the 32 Luhrs with the release of 5 Sailfish. Now they will return for some Inshore. Inshore clients Mauricio Quintana had his uncle and boys out for some Inshore they released 1 Rooster Fish, while clients Brian Ziegler headed offshore with his family and had 1 big Mahi Mahi right away then came in to drop off Dad and the girls and Mom and the son went back for some more action inshore fishing which they accomplished all in a half day.
December 27 Kathy and Russ Koshowski opted for an Inshore day for their 3rd of 4 days here fishing with us. Lots of action for them with 4 Mackeral, 4 Skip Jacks, 3 Needlefish, 1 Blue Runner and 7 Quepos Roosterfish. Clients Jeff Schaefer took his son Steve and daughter Ally out on the 32′ Luhrs as a graduation gift to Steve who finished college. They had 2 Costa Rica Marlin on, One broke the line and one release of a 250 lb. Blue Marlin and 3 Sailfish Released. Good fishing here both Offshore and Inshore.
December 26 Kathy and Russ Koshowski headed offshore again today under bright blue sunny skies to about 30 miles today started out the day with 2 Dorado in the morning then a bit of a lull mid morning then 3 Sailfish released and another Dorado so ended the day with 3 and 3. 45′ Viking released 5 Sailfish.
December 24 After arriving late last night Kathy and Russ Koshowski were ready bright and early today after experiencing What Russ referred to as the High Beam Highway to start the first of 4 days fishing with us at Quepos Fishing. They had a great day offshore with 3 Sailfish released and 6 Mahi Mahi for dinner. Heading offshore again on Wednesday for more fun. Merry Christmas everyone!
December 21 Patrick and Nancy Gee fished offshore today with lots of Merry Christmas Presents for the Crew being a Rep for Shimano. They got their presents as well with the release of 3 Sailfish and a Mahi Mahi to bring to Gran Escape for Dinner.
December 17 Well some folks fish almost every possible day they can, such is the case with today’s anglers Curtis Adriance fishing with his wife Susie. Living in Tampa gives him the opportunity to get out on the water often and he releases Sailfish often but not like the Pacific Sailfish here in Quepos Costa Rica. Today Curt was in awe as he released his very first Marlin and it was one of 2 Marlin that they had on today. They released 2 Sailfish as well and had 2 Dorado for Dinner. And just to top it off they had a whale aside the boat. Talk about a wondrous day out on the water……
December 10 Chris and Yvette Wagner here celebrating their 25th Wedding Anniversary headed offshore and had a stellar day. While the remainder of the fleet were all on the Dorado today, Chris and Yvette were treated to the release of 5 Sailfish, the First hit just as the lines went in the water and it was on from there. With a Little lull at lunch time for a quick bite and siesta, then it was back to action with total for day 5 Sailfish Released and 6 Dorado. Fishing in Quepos is really picking up for December 2012.
December 7 Anglers the Jutterstroms from Sweden were delighted to spend 2 days here in Manuel Antonio and get to experience the offshore fishing. Although they did not release and Sails today they did have some nice Dorado and a great day out for Father and son.
December 3, Sue and Cole Foster here in Manuel Antonio from Colorado have had a spectacular week starting with some amazing birding here in Costa Rica. Today they headed offshore aboard the Mad Marlin and topped off their week with the Biggest Fish Cole has ever caught and released. Cole released one big Sailfish and had a nice Quepos Dorado (Mahi Mahi) which Memo the 1st mate filet and all will enjoy for dinner tonight.
November 30 Rick Johnson Fly Fishing Offshore today released 2 Sailfish on the Fly while conventional fishing with Glen released 3 Sailfish and 1 Mahi Mahi.
November 29 Matt Dickhaus here from Germany with his mom headed offshore this morning and Released 5 Sailfish.
November 19 The Whatten Family spent a full day offshore today and released 3 Sailfish and 2 Mahi Mahi.
November 18 The Tottens and the Jenkins split a Quepos Fishing Charter today and released 5 Sailfish and 1 Mahi Mahi for Dinner.
November 14 The Evans Family offshore released 3 Sailfish and 2 Mahi Mahi.
November 11 Thomas Dent started and ended his fishing charters this week with Marlin! This is what he came down for another visit with www.queposfishing.com We love to see our repeat guests get rewarded over and over again with the fantastic Quepos Fishing here in Costa Rica. Today Tom released a Marlin, a Sailfish and had 2 Dorado rounding out a perfect trip. David Rittvo released a Sailfish and also had 1 more Dorado. Some nice fishing reports for us as we just have started our 2012/2013 season here.
November 10 David Rittvo headed offshore today for day 2 and apparently was out for some eating fish as they had 10 Dorado and 3 Amberjack.
November 9 Thomas Dent after having his 1st Marlin was quite pleased to bring home dinner today with 3 Nice Mahi Mahi, David Rittvo had 3 Red Snapper and 1 nice Amberjack for his first of 3 days offshore with us.
November 7 With the Polls closed and the Votes Cast: The Results are Satisfied Clients with Quepos Fishing. Thomas Dent a repeat client seeking a Marlin set out on his first of 3 days offshore this week and got a nice 200 lb. Blue Marlin. After Raising 5 of them. Theresa and John Chyzie on their second day offshore had 2 Dorado and Johnny Davis spent the day River Fishing with our Fly Guide and will try some inshore fishing tomorrow for a Costa Rica Roosterfish.
November 2 Theresa and John Chyzie spent their first of 6 days booked on the 36 Cabo seeking Sails and Marlin. No luck on that species but did have 3 nice Costa Rica Dorado .
Costa Rica Fishing Report for October 2012
October 25 With windy weather even to the North where it is usually better fishing conditions than the central Pacific for October, Eric Harris was determined to go out during his visit to Tamarindo and ended up going out for a half day and getting a nice Dorado
October 23 Jack wanted to fly fish inshore for a half day, with the seas having been a bit rough we were prepared for Fly and Conventional fishing and He got a really nice Roosterfish.
Costa Rica Fishing Report for August 2012
August 31 Bill Dozier fishing in Quepos headed offshore with his local staff and friends while staying at their home in Dominical. They were pleasantly successful with the Release of 3 Sailfish.
August 23 Dieter Scheel who has been anticipating some inshore fishing and after having fished a day had 6 Snapper and 3 Jacks so Dinner will be provided tonight.
August 22 Jack and John Odema so wanted to Costa Rica Fly Fish this week while they were in Dominical so we set them up with our River Guide for some River Fly Fishing. They had such a blast with 12 landed on the Fly and another 12 lost.
August 21 Quepos fishing for Dieter Scheel heavily relying on landing his first Quepos Rooster Fish got the shot with 11 Bites on Roosters and the Release of 2 of them.
July 31 Quepos fishing for David Stanley with his family on a Full Day Offshore released 2 Sailfish, A nice Dorado for Dinner along with a Yellow fin Tuna.
July 30 EJ Huntley headed offshore by himself and was rewarded with the Release of a Sailfish.
July 29 EJ Huntley headed offshore with his son but they did not make the 3/4 day as anticipated. Tomorrow for Dad Only.
July 24 Leanne & Sam, Thanks again for a great trip. We had a great time in Flamingo. We caught & released 2 Sails, lost one Sail and caught a nice 4′ Dorado which we ate at the Happy Snapper. We must of seen 20 Sails free jumping or tailing. The bite wasn’t on but we still had a great time. The Pasquale family stayed inshore and by 11:00 released a 40 Lb. Roosterfish.
July 18 Yousef Ibraham was delighted with fresh Shashimi on board today with 3 Nice Yellow Fin Tuna for Lunch and Dinner, Hopefully a Sail tomorrow…..
July 15 Jennifer Blanton on a Full Day Offshore raised 4 Sailfish, they hooked 2 of them but they both got off during the fight. They did get some Costa Rica Yellowfin Tuna for dinner!
July 13 The Stemler family wanted to take their young boys offshore today and they were delighted after. Releasing a Costa Rica Sailfish.
July 12 Marshall Tate and his family enjoyed a day of Costa Rica offshore fishing and were blessed with the release of a 300 lb. Costa Rica Blue Marlin. They also had 2 Yellow in Tuna to accommodate dinner plans.
July 1 Ashton Thurman really wanting to go offshore fishing while here on first trip to Costa Rica was delightfully rewarded with the release of 3 Sailfish today with Quepos Fishing. Its been great weather for fishing and lots of great days out on the Costa Rica fishing waters.
Costa Rica Fishing Report for June 2012
June 22 Blane Harvey fishing offshore aboard the 33′ released 1 sailfish, 1 Amberjack, 1 Mahi Mahi and 2 red snapper for a nice mix of Costa Rica offshore fishing.
June 20 Catherine Stewart fished offshore raising 4 sailfish, hooked 3 and released 1 and also had a Mahi Mahi for dinner. They had a terrific time with the crew on the 31.
June 19 Colin Creel and his family headed offshore with their family of 9 seeking a Tuna bite. That did not result however they did release 1 Sailfish.
June 15 Peter Bernstein and his mom opted for a Half day Inshore today after fly fishing in the Savegre River a few days before with his brother. Fishing on the fly was not all that productive in the morning so they tried for a bit with bait and then with artificials where they had some action with Jacks and Mackeral to take home.
June 12 Peter Bernstein and his brother were anxiously awaiting their trip here for some Costa Rica Fly Fishing and a River Trip, Tuesday was the perfect full day for them for their guided fly fishing River Trip. They caught so much Machaca that we stopped counting as well as lots of Grunt and Snook.
June 11 William Bell headed offshore today and had a great day Offshore with the release of 4 Sailfish, 2 Huge Dorado and 4 Yellow Fin Tuna. Nice day of Costa Rica Offshore fishing with Quepos Fishing.
June 10 Billie Baker and his wife headed offshore from Quepos for some Costa Rica Offshore fishing and released 1 Sailfish and had a 50 Lb. Yellow Fin Tuna for a delightful dinner of shashimi and grilled Tuna Steaks. Navin Rampath who fished with us in Los Suenos suffered a late morning departure due to First Night in Costa Rica indulgence. Despite their 11 am departure for offshore they were delightfully rewarded with 8 Mahi Mahi for Dinner.
June 7 Mark Samia wanted a Sailfish for his son so they headed offshore today after driving in from a friends in Matapalo and they were rewarded with a Sailfish and 4 Nice Size Yellowfin Tuna.
June 6 The Linnemans were supposed to fish on Thursday but they decided to go today despite the rough seas and a bit of wind. I wished they had waited till their scheduled day when the winds laid down and had more productive fishing.
June 5 Client Chad Faulkner so excited for his Costa Rica deep sea fishing trip had a stellar day aboard the 33 releasing 5 Sailfish, 2 Dorado, 10 Yellowfin Tuna and 2 Costa Rica Wahoo.
Costa Rica Fishing Reports May 2012
Costa Rica Sport fishing, with the start of green season in the pacific coast area of Costa Rica there is no sign of the fishing slowing down. Nice Costa Rica Yellowfin tuna our showing up and large schools of Dorado and plenty of Sailfish being caught and released right now. Quepos fishing seems to get better by the day. Los Suenos fishing boats in May too are having great numbers. May and June is a great time to be fishing in Costa Rica.
May 23 Bill Davis decided on Costa Rica Inshore Fishing today after having success for his full day Offshore Fishing Report on Saturday having released 3 Sailfish, was quite happily rewarded with 3 Costa Rica Roosterfish which put up spectacular fights.
May 22 Steven Greenberg spent the day offshore aboard the 31 Custom Sportfisher that is part of the Costa Rica Fishing Report Fleet and had a lovely day out on the water with the release of 2 Sailfish.
May 19 Bill Davis heading offshore today aboard the 34 on the first of 2 days of Costa Rica Fishing released 3 Sailfish for his first experience and will plan another day out on the Costa Rica Sportsfishing Grounds.
May 17 Quepos fishing report. Inshore today they wanted to get a Roosterfish. Well the guys on the 32 ran down to Dominical fishing for them. Had several large ones on but they broke off. but finally late in the day they landed a really nice one tock about 40 minutes to land a 65 lb. roosterfish which made there day!
May 16 Quepos fishing report for Mike Hein and his family headed offshore today and released 1 Sailfish, 1 Dorado they got for Dinner as well as 2 Red Snapper . Going to have a delicious Dinner tonight.
May 11 Costa Rica fishing report. Who said the fishing was getting slow? Lots of Dorado out there and Now we seen Wahoo and Tuna With Still pleanty of sailfish around in May. todays We had a cute honeymoon couple from Hotel Arenas Delmar fishing with us. They had a great day out on the Quepos Sportfishign waters. With 2 Sailfish plus 15 Dorado at 26 miles and 7 Yellowfin Tuna.Captain Randy had a good fishing day with 12 Dorado and 7 Tuna. The Dawson had 1 saifish and 3 nice WahooQuepos fishing Captain Frankin went bottom fishing at the Furuno and caught 5 Snapper , 10 Grouper and troll for 16 Mahi Mahi great action in this Costa Rica Fishing Report.
May 5 Clients on the 36′ Hatteras released 12 Sailfish and 17 Yellowfin Tuna which have finally started to show in our Costa Rica Fishing Report.
May 4 Los Suenos fishing Clients on the 36′ released 18 Sailfish and 14 Mahi Mahi for dinner. Another great day out on the Costa Rica fishing Report Grounds.
May 2 Costa Rica fishing report for Harry Baumstark and Daniel Sherwood. Who said fishing was slow? They had the best Quepos fishing day every! Had 15 sails in the spread off and on ending up catching 7 sailfish and then they got into the Dorado. Catching a total of 17 nice Dorado on the 32ft. Custom. They said it was crazy out there. With the Dorado hitting everything in site. So its getting back to normal fishing in Quepos.
May 1 Costa Rica fishing report for Lincoln Adams returned for his 4th year of Costa Rica Sportfishing with Quepos Fishing and had a nice day going 5 for 5 releases on Sails. The bite was there at 35 today raising 27 sails. Lots of lookers ,Its nice to see the numbers out there. The 32 luhrs had some nice Quepos bottom fishing action with clients taking in 7 Costa Rica red Snapper. The True Grit released 3 sails for a 3/4 Quepos offshore fishing day.
Costa Rica Fishing Reports April 2012
April 28 Costa Rica Fishing report for Ed Dunklee with local friends Jeff Ralston and Carolyn Onay fished offshore today releasing 1 Sailfish and got into a school of dorado hooking 20. The 33′ also in the schools of dorado and had 30 also 2 nice Red Snapper and 2 Amberjack.
April 27 The Quepos and Manuel Antonio weather has been great this week. Lots of sunshine and cooler temps. Ed Dunklee looking for an inshore adventure had a nice Snook on but coudnt keep it at the mouth of the river ,so he headed towards the rocks and released 1 Roosterfish.
April 25 Costa Rica fishing report for Cody Winfrey released 1 Sailfish today with a slow bite heading into the New Moon.
April 17 Quepos fishing report Well it was a great day out on the Quepos fishing grounds. Most boats stayed at the Furuno for some nice action. With a light rain which we really needed the Quepos sailfish where bitin. Cain Ladner and Angel Gary with friends who they met on the plane to Costa Rica and Ironically are both on leave from the same batillion? In Afghanistan! Fished on the Mad Marlin today had 4 Sailfish and had 8 grouper. They lost a Dorado as well and had a fantastic day. Nicholas and Stacy Richards on the 32 raised 9 sails and released 1. The 31 released 5 sails and the 33 released 5 sails and 6 grouper. Nice reports today with a good bite on for Costa Rica offshore fishing.
April 16 Quepos fishing report for Bradley Conviser went offshore today aboard the Mad Marlin and Released a 300 lb. Marlin. 30 minute fight, the Costa Rica Marlin released along side the boat which made the crew very happy, As he went off to fight another day. The 35 Express released 1 Sailfish, 1 Marlin 1 Mahi and 1 Grouper, thats like winning the Costa Rica Fishing lottery and the Luhrs had 6 Grouper for some Costa Rica Bottom Fishing.
April 15 Dr. Phillip and Cindy Jones went offshore today aboard the Mad Marlin and had the release of 1 Sailfish and hit some luck bottom fishing and ended up with 6 Red Snapper to take back to their Honeymoon Villa Light of Dawn where the staff will be delighted to please their palates again tonight with Fresh Red Snapper. Casey Ginder drove down from Dominical and they fished the Luhrs out past 50 miles and released 1 Sailfish and also headed for some bottom fishing with 1 Red Snapper and 1 Grouper.
Quepos fishing Tournament Results 2012: Quepos Billfish Cup Tournament Results 2012 With the final results on the Quepos Billfish Cup determined here in Quepos Costa Rica at Marina Pez Vela: The Tijareta out of Los Suenos taking first place with a total of 5 Sails and 2 Marlin. The Good Day Too also out of Los Suenos took Second Place and had 6 Sails and 1 Marlin Released. The Frenzy and Pez Espada both out of Quepos took a respective 3rd and 4th Place in the tournament and the Rum Runner 5th with 1 Marlin. Of the 2 day fishing event with a total of 13 Boats a total of 44 Sailfish released and 4 Marlin Released.
April 9 Quepos fishing report for Bill Larsen and Dave Savage headed out to the Furuno today for some bottom fishing as the Sailfish bite has continued to be out far. They got 3 nice size Grouper and 35 Rabbits another in the Grouper Family but smaller. The Billfish pushed out 67 miles and went 7 for 14 on Sailfish. The 36′ Released 1 Sailfish at 42 miles. Our inshore clients Ben Lin who has fished 2 days decided on one more day of inshore action. They loved catching the Roosterfish. So on their Half day inshore today they had 7 Roosterfish one of which was a 60 lb. Quepos Roosterfish. Not bad for a Half day Of Quepos Inshore Fishing.
April 8 Costa Rica fishing report – Today Dave Savage and Bill Larsen had a Full Day of Costa Rica Inshore Fishing on the Mad Marlin. It is their first of 3 Days of Costa Rica Fishing. They had a superb first Day with 7 Roosterfish , 2 Jacks and some Needlefish. They are scheduled for Offshore tomorrow which now that the Moon Phase has passed and the currents are moving we hope that the phenomenal offshore bite that we experienced last month returns to us for the upcoming Quepos Billfish Cup Tournament being held here at the end of the week. the 42 went 3 for 4 on sails but 50 miles out.
April 7 Costa Rica fishing report – Dave Fidler stayed inshore with his 3 young boys Frank ,Ryan and Ed who spent the day on the Mad Marlin and got 1 Really Big Rooster that they had to share it was a real fighter! and 3 Jacks, They had a lot of fun. Ben Lin on the 32 on a half day inshore had 3 Roosterfish, 2 Sea Bass, Mackeral and Jacks for lots of action in the half day and want to go back for more on Monday.
April 5 Michael Shusterman and his son Jacob drove in from San Isidro this morning for some Quepos Fishing Action. With yesterdays report from Captains as far out as 55-60 miles with no action the fleet was pretty decisive this morning with some Captains heading straight to the Furuno for Bottom Fishing, and some opting to start inshore and maybe work offshore. The bite inshore was definately in the afternoon keeping Michael and Jacob on their toes with 14 Mackeral and a Jack. One Mackeral Michael had was 12 lbs. which he caught on a spinning reel and thought that it was just so much fun with the first Michael Gaining then the fish would take back all the line and this went back and forth for a bit and a proven good fight.
Costa Rica Fishing Reports March 2012
March 29 Andy Ginsberg, his dad and stepson on their last day here in Costa Rica had a half day Inshore scheduled which they went out for a couple of hours in the morning and returned in the afternoon for hopefully a better bite. They had some great days Quepos Fishing Inshore and Offshore this week.
March 28 Casey Meehan here with a group of 22 for a Costa Rica Bachelor Party fished inshore today with a total of 7 anglers. They released 3 nice Roosterfish and decided to get a Gray Taxidermy Mount of one of the Roosters. Andy Ginsberg, his Dad and his stepson opted to stay inshore today and they were so excited to have another day with 4 nice Roosterfish.
March 27 Costa Rica fishing report for Peter Wollenberg his wife Colleen and their son Nick spent a half day Inshore tangling with the famed Quepos Roosterfish. With the release of 4 nice Rooster one of which was hooked with 2 separate rods after taking both baits. Dawn and Dan went out for 1 hour in the afternoon and released one 45 lb. and one 60 lb. Roosterfish. Offshore anglers, Don, Wayne, Alex, Mike and Jason headed offshore for a 3/4 Day and released 1 Sailfish, and brought 1 nice Red Snapper and 1 Amberjack back to their Manuel Antonio Luxury Villa Rental for the Grill.
March 26 Costa Rica fishing report showed Rob Goodbody headed offshore again today and released 2 Sailfish on the 32′ Luhrs again with a slow bite for many boats. Inshore clients Andy Ginsberg along with his Dad and step son spent a half day Inshore and with lots of bites on Roosterfish released 4 Roosters today.
March 23 Costa Rica Fishing Report Peter Wollenberg out with his wife and son headed offshore today on the 32′ had a Marlin on first thing but no conversion, they raised 3 Sails. Mrs. Wollenberg caught a 45-50 lb. Bull Dorado which they planned to bring to Ronny’s Place for a a spectacular Manuel Antonio Dining experience. Capt. Alvaro had a 500 lb. Black Marlin on his 32′ and Rafa on the 35′ had 3 Sails and a Marlin.
March 22 With much anticipation today as the fleet departed Marina Pez Vela for hopefully a good bite. On the backside of the full moon this month there was not an awful lot to report for offshore anglers. The inshore bite stayed good with some nice sized Roosterfish releases for anglers here Costa Rica Inshore Fishing. So off our Captains headed. Captain Mauricio Solis releases 1 immediately in the am at 25 miles while Captain Mangera has 3 morning releases at about 32 miles. The 40 ‘ Luhrs released 3 today all in the am. Captain Mauricio has a double hook up just after lunch with the release of 1 of the Sails for a total of 2 Sails released for Neomy Ponce and her boyfriend. While still a few boats reported that they raised a few but no releases.
March 16 Costa Rica fishing today Michael and Carrie Kalmes headed offshore today along with 5 other boats in the fleet with one of the slowest days this season. Raising 5 Sailfish and no release which was the same for others out there today. The 31′ did have the luck to release 2 for their clients and a Dorado. Rick Fisher on the 38′ released his first Black Marlin ever.
March 15 Clients Thomas Minehart and his girlfriend drove up from Dominical for some Costa Rica Inshore Fishing and brought along his fly rod to have a Costa Rica Fly Fishing experience. With no luck on the fly they did get one giant Roosterfish conventionally 45-50 lbs to the boat. Offshore boats the 31′ released 1 Sail. the 33′ Strike 1 Sail, the 35′ Express 2 Sails, the 32′ 2 Sails the 36′ 1 Sail and the 33′ Dawson 2 Sails. Slow down for offshore after days past.
March 14 A decent day for Costa Rica Offshore Anglers with the 32′ releasing 5 Sailfish, the 32′ Custom released 3 the 36′ Released 8 Sailfish today, the 33′ Dawson with 7 Releases and the 43′ Maverick with 11 Salfish Releases.
March 12 Micah Eldred opted to fish a third day offshore here and released 3 Sailfish
March 11 Micah Elred fishing offshore for day 2 released only 1 Sailfish with slow reports from all of the offshore fleet while inshore was great for clients releasing 12 Roosterfish, 3 Mackeral and 6 Jacks.
March 10 With the full moon its been a little slower then usual but Costa Rica fishing is picking up again.Jackie Egger and her family on vacation with her college aged children fished offshore on the 40′ Luhrs with the release of 3 sails. Micah Eldred on the 32′ Mad Marlin released 2 Sailfish. Wedding group Evan Kolter staying at Manuel Antonio Luxury Villa rental fished 2 boats, with the 33 strike releasing 2 Sails and the other folks did not have a release. While other 3 boats had 2,3, and 3 releases and the 35′ custom express with 9 sails 1 Dorado and 1 barracuda.
March 9 Costa Rica Inshore Fishing Report Rudy staying inshore on the 32′ Custom had lots of action with 4 Roosterfish, 3 Jacks, 5 Mackerel and 1 Barracuda. Offshore seemed to be affected by the full moon with a slow day for offshore anglers.
March 8 Costa Rica Sport fishing report for John Tammen and Mike Wenzinger on their last of 7 days Costa Rica fly fishing released 2 Sails but conventionally again on light tackle. Chris Carey and Bill Cronin raised 5 sails and released 2 of them. 14 additional releases cumulatively on 4 of the other sport fishers here in Marina Pez Vela sport fishing fleet.
March 7 Costa Rica Sportfishing . Clients John Tammen and Mike Wenzinger on their 6th day of Costa Rica Fly Fishing have been having a whole lot of fun using some really light conventional tackle as well. Using Fin-Nor Marquesa MA 16 model reels for the Catch and Release has made the process so much fun for them releasing 4 sails conventionally today. They had a striped Marlin on for a bit but broke off and they had a Black Marlin in the spread aboard the 38′ V Hull Bertram. Clients Tom Rabb on the 32′ Mad Marlin stayed inshore for some Roosterfish action which was rewarded with 6 Roosterfish and a Mackeral. Other offshore reports were on the 43 and 5 sails. The 33′ out to the Furuno for 3 snapper and 4 grouper.
March 6 Quepos Fishing Report John Tammen and Mike Wenzinger on the 43′ Maverick on their 5th day of Costa Rica fly fishing managed to raise 15 Sails with 2 on fly and 1 release and another 5 releases conventionally. Tom Rabb released 2 Sails on his second day and Stan Sherman fly fishing did not have any releases today. The 36 released 12 Sailfish and the 31′ released 9 sails. The Machine 14 Quepos sailfish and the 33′ Dawson 8 sails.
March 5 Costa Rica Fishing Report Mike Fweizer wanted to take his kids for some Costa Rica inshore Fishing and had a blast with his kids complaining of sore arms after catching 13 in a half day including Mackerel and Jacks. Tom Rabb released 1 sail and had 1 Dorado. stan Sherman on the 31′ had a few shots on the fly with no releases. Jessica Bath released 3 Sails on the 28′ with total reports of 47 Sails and 1 500 lb. Blue Marlin on the Luhrs.
March 3 Costa Rica Fishing Report for John,Craig and Tammy Stewart along with Tosh Wren headed offshore on the 32′ Luhrs today releasing 3 Sailfish and 1 Marlin about 250 lbs. Alexander and julianna Bannister and their friends on the 31′ Bertam released 5 costa Rica Sailfish. Inshore was slow with 2 Mackeral and 1 Amberjack and 1 Roosterfish. Stan Sherman and Paul who released 3 sailfish on Fly Yesterday, today had 1 marlin raised and 3 sailfish in the spread but not a conversion to a release. Fly fishermen. March 2 Costa Rica Fishing Reports for John Tammen and Mike Wenzinger on the 36′ Hatteras Releasing 5 Sailfish on The Fly Today.for their Los Suenos Fishing. Stanley Sherman and Paul Quepos Offshore fishing Released 3 sailfish on Fly Rods on the 31′. Clients Ward and Sandy Bond on the 33′ Dawson released 7 Sailfish and are staying inshore tomorrow for some Roosterfish Action. Sean Kelley and his group staying in a Luxury Manuel Antonio Villa Rental split the group again today with half of them on the 33′ Dawson with the Release of 6 Sailfish and the others on the 32′ Luhrs released 1 Sailfish. Jim O’Callahan and Heidi Payne were the very triumphant aboard the 32′ Mad Marlin as she has fished all her life and never got a shot at a Sailfish and today she released 2 of those beauties. The 33′ Strike reports 1 Marlin and 2 Sails, The 32′ custom released 4 Sailfish and the Machine had 3 Sails.
March 1 Costa Rica Fishing Report for Inshore clients Sean Kelley spent a half day on the 32′ Luhrs and had lots of Mackerel and 1 Red Snapper that they planned to grill for lunch at their Luxury Manuel Antonio Vacation Villa. They also released 1 Roosterfish, The rest of the group headed offshore on the 33′ Dawson with immediate action and the release of 1 Sailfish that was it for the day. The 32′ Mad Marlin with clients Dennis and Donna Derring were just delighted with first the release of a Sailfish as soon as the lines were in the water followed at 11:00 with a Double Hook up, and Donna’s Sailfish weighing in at around 150 lbs for a total of 3 sailfish released.Yeah Women Anglers. Clients in Los Suenos John Tammen and Mike Wenzinger on the 36′ had a 2 Sailfish and a Marlin on the teaser for their 1st of 7 Full Days Fly fishing. February 27 Costa Rica Fishing Report for Aaron Larson on the 32′ Mad Marlin Released 3 Sailfish and had 3 Dorado for Dinner YUM! while Eric Richardson on a half day on the Wahoo had Roosterfish, lots of Mackeral and Jacks . Mission completed for Eric.

Costa Rica Fishing Report for February 23 The 31′ Bertram today had the Release of 1 Sailfish, 1 Dorado for Dinner and 1 300 lb. Blue Marlin this perfect day for the Barlow family. The 31′ Sportfisher with Dan and Julie on their second split charter here released 3 Sailfish and had 1 Dorado for dinner while Matt DeAngelis on an inshore day had 1 Roosterfish and 1 Snapper .
Costa Rica fishing report for February 25 Tormod Ovebro and his friends spent their 3rd Full Day Fishing Costa Rica Offshore today aboard the 32 Mad Marlin in which they released 5 Sailfish and were really delighted with the crew. We hope to welcome them back again next year. Mauricio De Leon and friend Paul fished on the 31 Bertram and had the release of 5 Sailfish and also 3 Dorado which they brought some home for dinner at Claro Que Restaurant at Hotel Si Como No. Tonight they hope to have more fish to bring to El Gran Escape in Quepos. Drew Miller fished on the 28 Fly Fishing and raised 4 Sails, Had one on the fly for about 40 seconds and got off but a nice experience.
Costa Rica fishing report February 24 Travis Carlson and his new bride on the 32 Luhrs Released 2 Sailfish, 1 Dorado for dinner and a Marlin that broke at the boat. Eric Richardson and family on the 28′ Bertram released 2 Sailfish and had a Marlin on. Makaira Indica caught its namesake today with a 800+ lb. Black Marlin releasing it along side the boat after 4 hours letting it fight another day. Captain Randy released 4 Sailfish. Slow for several other boats today. Hopefully tomorrow the bite will turn back on.
Costa Rica Fishing Report for February 22 Talk about the Peak of the Season here for Costa Rica Fishing and Quepos Fishing. The Fleet Today: 31′ Bertram, 7 Sails released, 33′ Dawson 3 Sails released, 33′ Strike 6 Sails Released, 43′ Maverick 10 Sailfish Releases, the Private Billfish with 15 Sails and 10 Marlin on an overnight trip . 38′ with 8 Sails , 35′ express with 4 Sails , the 33′ Dawson 6, the 40′ Luhrs catching 8 Sailfish and the 31′ with a Marlin early and to the leader and broke and the release of 2 Sails . Quepos Fishing charter boats had a total of 67 Sails and 11 Marlin. Lets go Costa Rica fishing!
Costa Rica Fishing Report for February 21 with lots of happy anglers here today for Quepos Fishing in Costa Rica. William Butner on the 32′ Luhrs with 2 Sailfish and had 1 Red Snapper. Hank and Brandon on the 28’released 3 Sailfish and had 2 Dorado to bring back to their Manuel Antonio Luxury Villa for the Chef to prepare for them. The DeAnglesis Family on the 32′ Mad Marlin Released 3 Sailfish. The 26′ Center Console with the release of 6 Sailfish. And Captain Randy on the 32′ Released 7 Sailfish and a Marlin today. Several other boats hook into Marlin but no releases.
