Quepos fishing is some of the best in the world, as our guests found out. Maybe the followed the captain’s advice? The captain knows, for example, that Sailfish follow certain “highways” through the water, preferring to roam along the thermal barriers where water of two temperatures connect — that’s where their prey congregates. In Costa Rica, Ballyhoos make some of the best Sailfish bait, but technique also matters. Swimming Ballyhoos (rather than skipping bait) using a chin weight and circle hook have proven time and again to be among the best techniques to get a solid hit while fishing in Quepos.
